Our Story

From a Passion Project in Noosa to Australia’s Largest & Most Awarded Black Garlic

Like many of you, we have always been lifelong food lovers. After thousands of meals cooked, shared and savoured, we realised that one humble ingredient kept transforming our dishes in the most extraordinary way - black garlic.

We are Tony and Teneille, a husband-and-wife team with a deep passion for flavour, provenance and the joy of bringing people together through food. (Yes, a little like The Captain & Tennille - but with a gourmet twist.)

What began as a small passion project in our own kitchen soon became something much bigger.


How Noosa Black Garlic Began

For years, we made our own black garlic at home, sharing it with friends and family who quickly became just as obsessed with its rich, sweet and umami flavour as we were. Their encouragement - and constant requests for more - inspired us to take the leap and create Noosa Black Garlic.

Our vision was simple:
to craft the finest black garlic in Australia using exceptional local ingredients and meticulous artisan methods.

And so, in the heart of the Noosa region, Noosa Black Garlic was born.


Crafted with Organic Noosa Region Elephant Garlic

From the beginning, quality and provenance have guided every decision we make. By partnering with local garlic farmers across the pristine Noosa hinterland, we source premium organically grown Elephant Garlic - renowned for its naturally milder, sweeter profile compared to smaller garlic varieties.

This unique garlic provides the perfect foundation for our slow-aged black garlic, allowing us to create a flavour that is deep, complex and beautifully balanced without harsh pungency.

The result is a signature ingredient that chefs, food lovers and gourmet retailers across Australia have come to know and trust.

While our journey is rooted in a love of great food, it is also underpinned by professional expertise. Teneille is not only an ardent cook but a qualified naturopath with over two decades of experience in clinical healthcare, education and keynote speaking within the natural medicine industry.

This background informs our understanding of black garlic beyond flavour alone - particularly its improved digestibility, naturally occurring antioxidant compounds and its growing interest in supporting cardiovascular health when enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.

It is this rare combination of culinary passion and naturopathic insight that shapes the philosophy behind every Noosa Black Garlic product we create.


From Local Markets to National Recognition

What started as a small-batch artisan product has grown into Australia’s most awarded black garlic range, now featured on restaurant menus and in premium gourmet stores across the country. Despite this growth, our approach remains unchanged: slow, careful production, premium local ingredients and an unwavering commitment to quality.
