Recipe Details

Serves: 6–8 (depending on size)
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 dessertspoon Noosa Black Garlic Caramelized Black Garlic Paste

  • 2–6 sheets puff pastry (depending on how many trees you want to make)

  • Goat’s cheese (a firmer Dutch-style goat’s cheese works well for grating)

  • Milk, for brushing

  • Wooden skewers

  • Star-shaped cookie cutter

Method

1. Prepare the pastry

Preheat your oven to 180°C.

Place one sheet of defrosted puff pastry onto a sheet of baking paper.

2. Add the black garlic and cheese

Using a pastry brush, spread an even layer of Noosa Black Garlic Caramelised Black Garlic Paste across the pastry.

Grate an even layer of goat’s cheese over the top.

Place a second sheet of puff pastry over the filling.

3. Create the pastry trees

Using a knife, cut the pastry into 1.5 cm wide strips.

Take one strip and fold it back and forth onto a skewer, starting with a wider base and gradually narrowing toward the top to create a Christmas tree shape.

Cut small pastry stars using a star cookie cutter and place one at the top of each skewer.

Repeat until all pastry strips are used.

4. Bake

Place the pastry trees onto a baking tray lined with baking paper.

Brush each tree lightly with milk.

Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden, crisp and puffed.

Serve

Serve warm as a festive appetiser or grazing platter feature.
